Day 1
TANGIER – CHEFCHAOUEN – FEZ
We’ll pick you up from the port/hotel and we’ll start our tour driving to the north to visit the popular Riff Mountains, the city of Tetouan, and the town of Chefchaouen. We’ll stop in Chefchaouen to visit the old medina —the square has a very interesting Hispanic design and it's very peculiar. Also, you’ll see there many funky arts and crafts stores, rooftop restaurants and cafes where you’ll be able to chill and have some lunch before we start our next trip to Fez. Overnight stay at the hotel/riad.
Day 2
FEZ – IFRANE – MIDELT – THE GORGES OF ZIZ – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA
After breakfast, our driver will pick you up from your hotel/riad and we’ll start our driving to the south. We’ll visit Ifrane and the village of Azrou.
Ifrane is a city in the Middle Atlas located at 1,665 meters high (5,463 ft.) from the ground. In variant of the local Berber language known as "Tamazight", the city of Ifrane means "caves". This city was settled by the French administration in 1928 during the French Protectorate due to the Alpine weather. Ifrane was conceived as a "colonial settlement", and it’s a sort of "resort city" built in the mountains —so that Europeans could get a relief from the summer heat. We’ll continue our trip and then we’ll stop in Azrou to see the cedar forests and the Barbary macaques in their natural habitat —they’re very cute!
We’ll continue to the Tizi-N-Talghamt pass on our way to Midelt, along the magnificent Gorges of Ziz.
After lunch we’ll visit the Valley of Ziz, the city of Erfoud, the city of Rissani and the Merzouga Desert. After having a cup of a traditional mint tea, we’ll leave our luggage in a safe room to take a camel. We’ll ride to a Berber camp in the middle of the Desert of Erg Chebbi (this trekking will take about 1h 30 min from the hotel). After our trekking along the desert, we’ll set up our Berber tents and we’ll stay overnight. After dinner we’ll gather around the fire to enjoy the sound of some traditional Berber drums in a starry night.
Day 3
MERZOUGA – THE GORGES OF TODRA – THE VALLEY OF DADES
We’ll wake up a bit earlier to see the best sunrise you can ever imagine! The landscape will be stunning! We’ll see the different shadows and colours over a sea of sand dunes —according to the statistics, the dunes there are the highest ones in Morocco and the third largest ones in the world. We’ll return from the desert to the hotel and after having breakfast we’ll start our trip to the city of Tinghir to see the stunning Gorges of Todra, the highest and narrowest ones in Morocco! These gorges are a great spot to hike and relax at the river bank. It’s a good spot also to taste some local Berber delicacies! After having a great lunch at the very heart of the gorges, we’ll drive through the Valley of Dades where we’ll spend the night. Dinner and overnight stay at a local hotel.
Day 4
THE VALLEY OF DADES – SKOURA – OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH
After breakfast we’ll drive through the Valley of Dades towards Kelaât M'Gouna, "The Valley of Roses" and the city of Ouarzazate. We’ll take the road known as “the Road of the Thousand Kasbahs” and we’ll continue through “the City of Roses”, which is well known for its production of rose water. Next stop, the city of Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Africa! We’ll stop here to have lunch and then we’ll visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, declared by the UNESCO World Heritage since 1987. This kasbah is one of the most popular ones of Morocco where plenty of different movies were filmed, like the "The Mummy", "Gladiator" or "Game of Thrones". We’ll continue our way to the Atlas Mountains, and we’ll spend some time there so you can see the wonderful view of the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, about 2,260 meters high (7,414 ft.) from the ground. We’ll cross some of the small Berber villages crossing refreshing waterfalls around before going to city of Marrakech at noon.
