Day 1
CASABLANCA – RABAT – VOLUBILIS – MEKNÈS – FEZ
In the morning, your driver will be waiting for you to start your trip to Fez. Before leaving Casablanca we’ll visit the Hassan II Mosque. An our later, we’ll go to Rabat to visit the famous Hassan II Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohamed V and the Oudaya (the old medina). We’ll leave Rabat, and we’ll go to Volubilis, very popular because of the Roman ruins remaining from the Roman Empire to the very south of the ancient town. We’ll continue to Meknes, the city of the first Arabic dynasty. Here we’ll visit the Bou Inania Madrasa and the Bab Mansour, the gateway to the Moulay Ismail Palace. We will arrive to Fez in the afternoon. Overnight stay in the riad/hotel.
Day 2
VISITING FEZ
After breakfast, you’ll have a sightseeing tour to explore the Imperial City of Fez with a private guide. You’ll spent the whole day visiting the medieval medina (the old city) passing trough its ramparts and narrow streets. This city was declared as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1981. You’ll see the 16th Century Merinid Tomb Ruins. You will visit the Bouanania and the Attarine Medersas constructed in the early 14th century by the Merinides, the Karaouine Mosque (The ancient educational centre of Islamic learning), and the Nejjarine Marble Fountain. You will have a break for lunch at a typical Moroccan restaurant. Continuing on your visit, you will view the decorated gate of Bab Boujeloud, the medieval tanneries, the Royal Palace. Then visit of the Souks (local markets) where merchants and craftsmen sell their hand-made jewellery, leather goods, copperware and pottery. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3
FEZ – AZROU – MIDELT – THE VALLEY OF ZIZ – ERFOUD – RISSANI – MERZOUGA
After breakfast, early in the morning we’ll cross the mountains to Ifrane (“the Switzerland of Morocco”) where we’ll stop to visit the famous stone lion. We’ll continue the road until we reach Azrou and the region known as Imouzzer, which is blanketed in forests of cedar, juniper and cork oak. The area is well known for its abundant wildlife, and many types of birds, wild boar and Barbary apes may be seen on our scenic drive. The road will then start to climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains; the slopes may be dotted with the tents and goatherds of nomadic Berbers who call this rugged region home. After lunch in Midelt, we’ll continue along mountain roads overlooking the wide flowing Oued Ziz. We’ll take the road full of kasbahs and palm groves through the Valley of Ziz (around 24 km of palm groves) and we’ll continue to Errachidia. Lately in the afternoon, we’ll arrive to Merzouga. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 4
NOMADIC TOUR
After breakfast we’ll settle our tent in the desert to start our “Nomadic Tour” to discover the black desert —where we’ll be able to meet and share a pleasant moment with a nomadic Berber family. We’ll see two oasis of Merzouga and we’ll visit the town of Khamlia known also as “the Village of the Dark Skin People”, the descendants of the old slave market from South Africa. We’ll then stop at a Berber family home to discover their way of life and listen to some Gnawa music. We’ll visit the Mifiss mines, the desert plateau and the oasis of Tissardmine. After coming back from the hotel we’ll prepare a small duffle bag for our joruney towards the vast dunes of Erg Chebbi by camel —approximately one hour and a half— to watch the sunset and sleep in the desert. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional Nomadic Berber tent.
Day 5
MERZOUGA – RISSANI – THE GORGES OF TODRA – THE VALLEY OF DADES
We’ll visit the city of Rissani, home of the Alauitas (the Royal Family) and the largest market in Morocco. We’ll go to Erfoud, the capital of marble and palm date trees in Morocco. We’ll take the road to the Gorges of Todra, a limestone canyon —with a height of 300 m (328 ft.)— and a paradise for climbers. Once having visited this spectacular landscape we’ll go ahead to the Valley of Dades. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 6
THE VALLEY OF DADES - OUARZAZATE - AIT BEN HADDOU - MARRAKECH
After having breakfast, we’ll go back to Marrakech leaving the Gorges of the Dades towards a road full of kasbahs "the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs", we will pass Kelaât M'Gouna (“the Valley of Roses”) and from there, we’ll get into the palm grove of Skoura to visit the famous Amrydil Kasbah and the Great Palm Grove of Skoura. Then we’ll return to Ouarzazate to stop and visit one of their film studios or, if you prefer, to visit the Taouirirte Kasbah, —the Pasha of Marrakech— a building made of adobe with crenellated towers, old residence of the pasha of Marrakech. We can walk through the chambers of Glaoui, the dining room and his favorite room decorated with cedar wood ceilings and painted stucco walls. Then we’ll continue towards Marrakech passing through the Mountains of the High Atlas. We’ll arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon. Overnight stay in the riad/hotel.
Day 7
VISITING MARRAKECH
We’ll dedicate this day to explore Marrakech. A local guide will be waiting for you to start a visit tour to see the old medina. You’ll see the famous Mosque of Koutubia and the souks. Also you can explore some other secrets of Marrakech: the Ali Ben Youssef School, the Saadian Tombs and the Palace of Bahia. After lunch we’ll take a break to enjoy the city. We recommend you to enjoy the sunset n the exciting Jemaa El Fna Square from the rooftop of the famous “Café de France”. Overnight stay in the at the riad/hotel.
Day 8
MARRAKECH – CASABLANCA – TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT
We’ll leave Marrakech in the morning to Casablanca. Transfer to the airport.
