Day 29th
MARRAKECH – TIZI-N-TICHKA – AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZATE
Departure from Marrakech to Ouarzazate. We’ll take the High Atlas road until we reach the high port of Tizi-N-Tichka —2,260 meters high (7,474 ft.) from the ground. We’ll take another different path to go to Telouet to visit the Kasbah of Pacha Glaoui. Following the route, we’ll continue our trip traveling along the old road of the caravaneers to reach the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou —an architectural complex that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This location has also been featured in movies such as “Sahara”, “The Kingdom of Heaven”, “Cleopatra” and “Gladiator”. We’ll then descend to the wonderful Valley of Ounila, where Berber villages line the route until we reach Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 30th
OUARZAZATE – ANTI ATLAS – VALLEY OF DRAA – NKOB – ALNIF – MERZOUGA
After having breakfast, our driver will collect you from the accommodation to set out for the big South. We’ll cross the Anti Atlas mountains —also known as the Little Atlas— crossing the Tizi Ntnifift pass —one the lowest mountains in Morocco, at approximately 1600 meter high (5,250 ft.) from the ground— reaching the Valley of Draa —the largest one in Morocco which cuts the massif in two halves. Along the way, we’ll take a break to contemplate the charming kasbahs made of adobe and we’ll be able to admire the Berber villages that are dotted along the route and the wonders of the Valley of Draa. Afterwards, we’ll have some lunch in Alnif. We’ll reach the impressive dunes of Merzouga early in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 31st: New Year‘s Eve
NOMADIC TOUR – CAMEL TREKKING - NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY
After breakfast, we’ll enter to the desert to start our "Nomadic Tour" to discover the black desert —where we can meet and share a pleasant moment with a nomadic Berber family— we’ll see the two oases of Merzouga and we’ll visit the town of Khamlia known also as "the village of the dark skin people", the descendants of the old slave market from South Africa. We’ll then stop at a Berber family home to discover their way of life and listen to Gnawa music. We’ll visit the Mifiss mines, the desert plateaus and the Tissardmine oasis. After coming back to the hotel you’ll have some free time to rest and prepare a small duffle bag for our New Year’s Eve party in the middle of the dunes. We’ll take the camels —approximately a one and a half hour— to watch the sunset and arrive to the campsite. Special New Year’s Eve dinner and music around the fire. Overnight stay in a Traditional Berber Tent.
Day 1st
MERZOUGA – RISSANI – ERFOUD – GORGES OF TODRA – VALLEY OF DADES
After attending the impressive sunrise and the magical colors produced by the dunes, we’ll return with the dromedaries to the village to have a comforting hot shower in the hotel. Departure to Rissani (first imperial city in Morocco). We’ll go for a tour to one of the biggest markets in Morocco. We'll visit the fossilized marble factory of Erfoud before continuing the route to the Palm Groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. Arrival at one of the major attractions of the South: The Gorges of Todra. The channel of the Todra River has formed a huge gorge with vertical walls and stunning sights —it’s a paradise for climbers and an extremely rare place to visit. We’ll have lunch up there and we’ll have an easy walk to admire these amazing gorges. In the afternoon we’ll continue our tour to the Valley of Dades passing through Boumalne until arrive at the Gorges of Dades. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2nd
VALLEY OF DADES – VALLEY OF ROSES – SKOURA – OUARZAZATE – MARRAKECH
After having breakfast, we’ll go back to Marrakech leaving the Gorges of the Dades towards a road full of Kasbahs "the route of the Thousand Kasbahs", we’ll pass Kelaât M'Gouna (the Valley of Roses) and from there into the Palm Grove of Skoura to visit the famous Kasbah of Amrydil and the Great Palm Grove of Skoura. Then we’ll return to Ouarzazate to stop and visit one of their film studios or, if you prefer, we can visit the the Kasbah of Taouirirte, the Pasha of Marrakech’s residence —a building made of adobe with crenelated towers. We can walk through Glaoui's chambers; the dining room and his favourite room decorated with cedar wood ceilings and painted stucco walls. Then, we’ll continue towards Marrakech passing through the High Atlas Mountains. We’ll arrive to Marrakech in the afternoon.
